A PERSONAL PHOTOGRAPHIC PERSPECTIVE

Assigned Color Portraits

You have to develop a rapport with your subjects, even if you have just met them. People need to feel comfortable having their picture taken. That in itself is sometimes a tall order. Then combine making a subject comfortable while doing it in good available light. The woman silhouetted in the doorway with her husband against a clean adobe wall, the flute player in a shallow depth of field, the street artist with his large canvas, and the late John Ehrlichman in a flower garden. All these images are simple yet effective portraits. They have a candid air to them, but they were previsualized.
